Senior Nicole Teal from Inman, SC was inducted into the Bachman Honor Society and received the Outstanding Achievement in Mathematics Award at Newberry College's Awards Day Convocation on April 10.

The Bachman Honor Society is named for The Rev. John Bachman, clergyman and scholar and a guiding force in the founding of Newberry College in 1856. Inductees for the Bachman Honor Society are drawn from top 8 percent of the senior class. Thirteen seniors were named Bachman Honor Scholars and will wear the Scarlet and Gray honor cords at commencement designating them as Bachman Honor Scholars.

The Outstanding Achievement in Mathematics Award is given annually to a graduating senior for excellence in mathematics based on performance in the classroom and contributions to the study of Mathematics. Nicole was selected for Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in Fall 2014. She is a Secondary Education major with a concentration in Mathematics and a minor in Music. Nicole is a part of the National Science Foundation Robert Noyce Teaching Program, a member of Sigma Alpha Pi Leadership Society, Omicron Delta Kappa, Blue Key Honor Society and a Dean's List student. The Newberry College Awards Day Convocation is held annually in the spring and celebrates the outstanding student accomplishments in academics, extra-curricular activities and leadership in campus life. Faculty and staff are also recognized for their contributions to campus life.
