Madison Darby-McClure Named SAC Volleyball Player of the Week

Newberry College middle blocker Madison Darby-McClure has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference volleyball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

Darby-McClure, a senior from Colorado Springs, CO, was the Wolves' offensive leader in a 3-0 week which ran Newberry's winning streak to five matches.

Darby-McClure opened the week with a match-high 16 kills and three block assists against Coker. She then posted 16 kills in the following match against Mars Hill in a 3-1 victory. Darby-McClure led the team with 10 kills in a sweep over Tusculum.

In three matches this week, the English major averaged 4.20 kills per set and had a .493 attack percentage over three games. During the week, she totaled 42 kills, 7 total blocks and 46.5 points. Darby-McClure is currently eighth in the conference in total blocks with 38.
