Lexington Native Named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

Newberry College sophomore Natalie Willis has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference Corvias Women's Volleyball Division II Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday by the league office for the week ending Sept. 11.

The Lexington native had three double-doubles at the Francis Marion Tournament Sept. 9-10.

She averaged 9.06 assists and 3.63 digs over four matches after the absence of Newberry's normal starting setters. Willis totaled 145 assists and 58 digs. She had a team-high 43 assists against Emmanuel and tied for a team-high nine digs in a victory over UNC Pembroke.
