Herring Receives Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award

2018 May 15

Benjamin Herring of Hopkins, SC received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award , counterpart of the Mary Mildred Sullivan Award, at the 2018 Newberry College Commencement ceremony. This award honors a woman from the graduating class who, in the judgement of the President of the College, best exemplifies the traits of Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan-- outstanding character and service to others. These awards have been given by the Sullivan Foundation since 1890 recognizing individuals such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Fred Rogers, and Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell.

Herring is a Muller Center Research Fellow and volunteered in Quito, Equador for one month conducting a research project on the business strategies of non-government organizations in that country. He has been active in the community, volunteering with the Harvest Hope Food Bank and the Spanish Academy.
