Herring Named To Google Cloud Academic All-District Team

Benjamin Herring of Hopkins, SC has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team.

Herring was a Second Team Academic All-American last season and served as President of the Student Government Association this academic year. The senior team captain played in all but two games this season with 43 starts and sported a .314 batting average with nine doubles, two home runs, a .404 on-base percentage, and 26 RBI.

The Hopkins native reached base in as many as 11 straight games, was fifth on the team with 15 multi-hit games, and had multiple RBI on eight occasions in 2018. His best performance at the plate came on a 4-for-4 day with a walk, three RBI, a home run, and a run scored at Tusculum. He stole a career-high 11 bases on 16 attempts.

An International Studies major with a Spanish minor, Herring graduated with a 3.92 GPA and significant accolades in tow, including being a member of the Bachman Honor Society and the Summerland Honors College, earning a Muller Center Research Fellowship, and receiving the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. He was also named first team all-conference in both the SAC and Eastern College Athletic Conference in 2017.
