Garrett Baquet was named the Newberry College Dorothy L. Jeffcoat Fellow for 2014-2015

Garrett Baquet, a History major at Newberry College from Ware Shoals, was named the Newberry College Dorothy L. Jeffcoat Fellow for 2014-2015 at the College's annual Awards Day Convocation on April 10.

The award was established in honor of Dr. Dorothy L. Jeffcoat, a 1963 Newberry College graduate. Jeffcoat served as the College's Director of Alumni Relations from 2001-2007 and remains an active supporter and ambassador for the College.

In recognition of Jeffcoat's dedication to her alma mater, the Fellowship for College Archive Preservation was formed in her name. The Fellowship is awarded to a Newberry College student who has demonstrated outstanding academic accomplishments and possesses the necessary skills to carry out the duties of College Archival Intern.

The Newberry College Awards Day Convocation is held annually in the spring and celebrates the outstanding student accomplishments in academics, extra-curricular activities and leadership in campus life. Faculty and staff are also recognized for their contributions to campus life.
