Elizabeth Williamson named AstroTurf SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Newberry College's Elizabeth Williamson has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.

Williamson, a junior from Canterbury, New Zealand, New Zealand, went 3-0 in both doubles and singles play last week as the Wolves move to 10-1 overall and 5-0 in the South Atlantic Conference.

In a tight 5-4 win for the Wolves against Coker, she teamed with Tara Lamers to post a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles and followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.

Williamson and Lamers then posted an 8-2 doubles win against Catawba and an 8-4 doubles victory against Carson-Newman. In singles play, Williamson picked up straight-set wins against Catawba and the Eagles at the No. 1 flight.

She is currently 11-0 at No. 1 singles on the year. The award is her first Player of the Week honor this season.
