Canterbury, New Zealand Native Elizabeth Williamson Named AstroTurf SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Newberry College women's tennis player Elizabeth Williamson has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.

Williamson, a senior from Canterbury, New Zealand, went 2-0 in singles play and in doubles action last week as the Wolves move to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in the SAC.

She recorded 6-0, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-1 victories at the No. 1 singles slot against Catawba and Mars Hill. Williamson and partner Amanda Carrillo posted an 8-3 doubles win against Catawba and an 8-5 victory against Mars Hill.

Williamson is currently 12-0 in singles play on the year and 11-1 in doubles matches. The award is her second Player of the Week honor this season.
